Company History

Rovsing A/S (www.rovsing.dk) was established as a start-up in 1992 by Christian F. Rovsing and Søren A. Rasmussen. The ambition was to provide high technology solutions and services to the European institutional space industry (ESA programmes). Both founders had a thorough knowledge of the European institutional space market from previous positions.

Major Milestones

1992

Signature of its first contract for engineering support services for Europe's Space Centre in French Guiana. Two software engineers were co-located there for a period of three years.

1994

Signature of its first contract for a turnkey delivery of satellite test systems (hardware plus software) for electrical and functional testing of instruments on-board the Envisat earth observation satellite.

1995

Signature of the contract for delivery of software for testing the Vulcain engine, that is the main engine of the European Ariane 5 launcher. The software solution was based on mathematical analysis of vibration signals. The signal processing technology which was developed was later developed into a commercial product for industrial use.

1995-2000

Signature of altogether eight software development contracts for software for the European Columbus module of the International Space Station (ISS).

2002

Signature of the contract for IV&V (Independent Verification and Validation) of all critical software developed by a third party (EADS) for the European space shuttle ATV. The total contract was in the order of € 7 million. In connection with this contract, Rovsing has as the first European company conducted IV&V for Class A software being the highest security category for software.

2004

Signature of the contract for the development of the FCC (Flight Application Software Command Checker) for the ATV project. The FCC Software was classified as Class B software, which is the second highest security class of the critical software.

2006

The company was selected as the supplier of five turnkey test systems for the Galileo satellite navigation program.

2006

Rovsing was listed on the NASDAQ OMX Nordic Stock Exchange.

2008-2010

The company makes a breakthrough for supply of software engineering services to the automotive industry. Today contracts have been landed from blue chip companies like BMW, Volkswagen, Delphi Diesel Systems, TRW, Knorr-Bremse, Hella and VALEO.

2009

Rovsing is awarded four EGSE and one IV&V contracts for the GMES Sentinel 1, 2 & 3 programmes. Among these Rovsing is awarded the strategically important space contract from Thales Alenia Space, Italy for the delivery of a so-called Power Supply SCOE system for the Sentinel-1 satellite. This order is the first delivery that is based on a range of newly developed Rovsing standard products.

2010

Commenced R&D activities related to the development of a Solar Array Simulator product.

2011

Received a grant of more than one million € from the “Højteknologifonden” for the development of a revolutionary second generation Solar Array Simulator product based on novel and very competitive technologies.

2012

Rovsing purchased Intellectual Property Rights to altogether 31 Satellite Test Products from the Dutch company Satellite Holdings BV.
